System Leader Responsible for AI in Schools
Over the last 3 years working with school system leaders on AI we have heard 4 common concerns.
Huge variation in AI confidence and use - some schools (and some teachers) are racing ahead, using AI in lots of ways to great benefit, whilst others are stuck at the starting line.
Staff have to learn and do lots of work to actually make it useful - Staff have to learn a lot to be safe and effective, creating a burden, they need communications, PL and reusable educational tools to get benefits and avoid misuse.
Little control over what teachers and students are generating or using AI for - using offshore AI tools, inconsistent application of data governance, local curriculum, expectations of staff, or assessments and student use.
High costs for AI and LLMs - that aren’t in our budgets and we have little licence flexibility and can’t cap or restrict to uses that are effective. Generic enterprise AI tools are a start but the education layer is missing.
If these sound familiar to you or you have some of them yourself then we can help you.
We have developed comprehensive services that gets schools ready for AI and makes AI ready for schools. This program has been run with 5 education systems representing over 300 schools serving over 20,000 students. Get touch to find out what they say about the impact of the program.
To get schools ready for AI we deliver tailored workshops and bespoke resources that build staff capabilities so school leadership can be confident that risks are being managed. Schools and systems create a coherent governance model, structured guidance for staff and methodologies for school to set expectations around student use that is consistent with learning expectations. You can can start with AI literacy basics and a teacher ‘ready reckoner’ then grow into a full model. We’ve got you covered wherever you are in on your AI journey.
To make AI ready for schools we have developed a purpose built AI management platform for Australian schools that works inside your existing, controlled digital system. It stops the AI apps explosion and data leakage risks, reduces the staff learning burden and helps leveraging your own staff’s expertise, making your own AI innovations shareable across your system. It also gives you oversight, control and provides additional LLM licensing options to fit your budget with cost controls. Click here to learn more about Mecha.
